The Best Side Hustles For Introverts

Whether you are someone who truly hates talking to people or you have a demanding job in a hospital and are looking for a side business for nurses that doesn’t involve talking, we have you covered below.

1.Freelance Writer

If you have great grammar and creative writing skills, freelance writing could be for you.

Freelance writing jobs can include technical articles (think manuals and instructions) or content for online blogs and magazines.

Other freelance writing job opportunities include:

  • Ghostwriting
  • ebooking
  • Course content creation
  • Ad copywriting

It’s an awesome job for stay-at-home moms who want to create a sustainable income and it’s perfect for anyone who wants to have their own business online.

How to make money as an introvert freelance writer

My go-to recommendation for freelance writing tips is Gina Horkey. She is a guru in starting a freelance writing business and has tons of tips on her blog.

This post is packed with great information for you to get started finding freelance writing gigs.

2. PLR Creator

If you love writing but don’t want the hustle of landing freelance gigs, then writing prewritten content could be for you.

Simply write articles and reports that you know bloggers and online businesses would like on their sites and sell it to them on your own online store.

The best thing about writing prewritten Private Label Rights content (PLR) is that you can sell the same piece of writing over and over again.

It’s an awesome way to create a completely passive income stream and a great online business for introverts.

PLR is sometimes called low content publishing which involves creating digital files such as planners or journals and then selling them on for commercial use.

Low content publishing is a good option if writing isn’t really your thing but you want to sell a product that you can easily create at home and on your own schedule .

If this kind of writing appeals to you, read my guide on starting your own PLR content business – it’s easier than you might imagine to get started in this profitable niche.

3. Proofreading

Proofreading from home is one of the best work from home jobs for introverts.

There are tons of companies that are always looking for proofreaders and you don’t need experience in many cases

If you have a natural knack for grammar and are constantly spotting typos and errors in other people’s work then proofreading might be the perfect fit for you.

There are quite a few different types of proof reading, from the more general type where you are checking books or articles to legal proofreading that requires more technical know-how.

How to get started as a proofreader:

Proofread Anywhere offers a free 45 minute webinar training to get you started in the world of proofreading.

I recently went through the webinar training and learned a lot about the opportunities available and how to start a proofreading business.

If you want to see what it is all about, you can sign up for the free webinar here.

4. Social Media Manager

If you are savvy on social media and are good at coming up with catchy lines and finding great hashtags, managing social media accounts for businesses is a great work-from-home job.

Many smaller businesses don’t have the resources to have their own in-house marketing departments so they rely on freelance social media managers to run their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram sites.

As far as side hustles for introverts go, this is one of the most popular and in demand right now.

The great thing about this job is that you can do most of the work on your phone and it is not too time-consuming but can be extremely lucrative if you can get some good clients.

You can make upwards of $500 a month per client depending on their needs.

How to get started as a social media manager:

If you are not great at social media, then I would recommend taking some courses before embarking on this job.

I love this list of free social media marketing courses.

Once you know what you are doing, you can advertise your services online and on sites like Fiverr.

5. Transcriptionist

Get paid to type from home!

Transcriptionists convert speech (video or audio tapes) into a written or electronic text document.

In addition to recording every word spoken in the audio, the transcriptionist inserts punctuation and grammar to improve the readability of the document.

Transcription is the perfect work from home job for introverts as you need to be able to work undisturbed for long periods of time while you transcribe weighty documents.

How to get started as a transcriptionist

Transcribe Anywhere does offer a free course to give you an idea of what to expect as a work-at-home transcriptionist.

You can access the general transcription mini course and more info at the Transcribe Anywhere website

6. Blogger

I hesitate to call blogging a job as it is really an online business that you can start from home.

Blogging is my preferred way to earn an income from home and I have been doing it since the beginning of 2017.

While blogging is a competitive field to be really successful/famous in, it is not too difficult to make a good living working from home as a blogger if you are prepared to put in the time.

I love blogging as a business because I can set my own hours and I don’t have to answer to anyone. I can also scale my business up to earn more money as much as I would like.

How to get started as a blogger

It’s very easy to start a blog that makes money but it’s also easy to make mistakes and waste a lot of time (I’m talking from experience).

Read my in-depth step-by-step guide to starting your own blog the right way and you will be up and running in no time and for less than $3 a month!

7. Flip Blogs For Profit

I’m putting this one right under “Blogging” because in order to flip blogs for a profit, you need to know how to actually blog. However, this is one way of making money from home that is BIG business.

Just ask Chelsea who made over $350K in 2020 from her blog flipping business.

Essentially, you create a blog, build it up and then sell it on a reselling site like Flippa. Easy Peasy, right?

Of course, there is more to it than that – learn exactly what it entails in my detailed step by step guide to website flipping.

If you are interested in learning how to make and sell blogs yourself, Chelsea has a fantastic course that I have taken and highly recommend. You can check out the Blog Flipping Masterclass here.

8. Scopist

No one has ever heard of scoping but it’s a hugely lucrative work-at-home job.

Scoping is the process of editing transcripts for court reporters.

This is one of the side hustles for introverts that does require some specialist knowledge and training. However, the rewards are rich – even beginners can earn up $30,000 a year from home!

9. Dropshipping

It took me a bit of time to get my head around it but it’s pretty incredible.

It’s basically the process of becoming a reseller for a wholesaler.

You own your own retail store but you don’t actually have the products in stock.

Instead, they are shipped directly from the manufacturer.

If you have spent anytime on Instagram, you are probably familiar with all the pop-up boutiques on there.

Well, most of them are dropshippers.

Most dropshipping sites are hosted on Shopify. It’s easy to use and cheap.

Things you could sell on your Shopify store:

  • Clothing
  • Accessories
  • Office supplies
  • Jewery
  • Home decor
  • Sports equipment etc

10. Virtual Assistant

Now this job may require an initial video call or conference call with potential clients but for the most part, working as a virtual assistant is a great non-phone job for introverts.

Virtual assistants complete many different tasks for their clients, including

  • Managing schedules and appointments
  • Editing websites
  • Creating social media posts
  • Coordinating meetings
  • Editing documents
  • Sending emails

It’s a good side hustle to do from home in your spare time and can be very lucrative.

Virtual assistants can easily earn $1000+ working part time from home.

11. Amazon Seller

Did you know that people make amazing income just by buying things cheap and then reselling them on Amazon?

Isn’t that ingenious?

This is one of my favorite side hustles for introverts because it actually works and you can do it from anywhere.

That’s what Cliff and Jessica have been doing for the last 10 years and they made over $100,000 in their first full year!

Amazon FBA businesses are similar to drop-shipping but you are using the power of Amazon to drive customers to your products.

How to get started as an Amazon Reseller

Jessica and Cliff’s Free Amazon FBA 7 Day bootcamp. is a great resource for setting up your Amazon business and starting to make money.

12. Stock Image Photographer

Do you have an eye for great photos or are creative with flatlays and landscapes?

Consider starting a stock image business and get paid for your photos!

If you love taking pictures, this is truly one of the best side hustles for introverts out there.

How to sell your photos online

You can either create your own website and store selling your photos or submit them to sites like Shutterstock or Getty Images.

If you decide to create your own site, you will probably want to start a monthly membership site like my friend, Alicia runs at her site, Pixistock.

Here are 15 Best Stock Photo Sites To Sell Images that can also help you to get started.

13. Author

I know what you are thinking “Gemma, do you know how hard it is to get published these days?”.

Ok, so you might not be the next JK Rowling but how about creating ebooks to sell on the Amazon Kindle store or courses on Udemy?

How to create ebook to sell

It’s super easy to create an ebook using Canva for free and you can make good money even for a low-cost ebook.

I sell one of my ebooks for just $4 but make around $200 a month from it, completely passively.

Read my tutorial on Kindle publishing.

If you are more of a novelist, you can read how to sell your short stories for cash.

14. Virtual Bookkeeper

If you are good with balancing your household budget then bookkeeping is a fantastic work-from-home side hustle that requires no telephone calls or in-person meetings.

Many small businesses need bookkeepers to keep their invoices and paperwork in line so they can focus on their business.

I even know a lot of bloggers who employ freelance bookkeepers to get them ready for tax time.

How to become a bookkeeper

You don’t need to be an accountant or have a CPA to be a bookkeeper but a background in mathematics is likely helpful.

15. Etsy Shop Owner

How would you like to make extra money while crafting?

All it takes is opening your own Etsy store.

In fact, one of the most popular 50 Etsy shop ideas on this list isn’t even related in any way with crafts!

The best part about starting an online business through Etsy is that there are no startup costs – all equipment and supplies necessary for operation cost nothing more than what’s spent anyway when buying materials from Amazon or Target (or wherever).

Here are some tutorials to get you started with Etsy:

17. House Cleaner

Starting your own cleaning business is one of the easiest side hustles there is.

There is always demand for cleaners whether it be for homes or business.

Word of mouth will get you more clients than you can handle in a matter of months.

Another really great way to make extra income cleaning is to start a foreclosure cleaning business.

Banks will pay a lot for quality cleaners to get homes ready to sell.

18. Graphic Designer

Graphic Designers are hired every day to create logos and branding for bloggers.

They also format ebooks, templates, powerpoint presentations or flyers-anything that needs a professional touch!

Fiverr has made it so anyone without an advanced degree in graphic design can get started making money doing what they love best: designing awesome graphics on Canva and other free programs

All you need is creativity and some extra time! Learn more about How To Become A Graphic Designer {Without A Degree}

19. Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketing is the art of making money recommending products to people.

You then get paid a commission when they buy these items from your affiliate links.

There are many affiliate marketers who make millions every year from their efforts.

Consider all the YouTube videos you have watched that meaning the affiliate links in the comments.

How to get started as an affiliate marketer?

There are tons of expensive affiliate marketing courses out there but most are just fluff.

I paid over $300 for one that taught me next to nothing.

You are better checking out YouTube for lots of great tips.

20. Soap Maker

Have you considered starting a soap-making business from home?
